Voldar: Your comments: George Harrison's son, Dhani, has his own fans Yesterday's "Song of the Day" featured the Beatles' "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" with a scorching guitar solo by Prince, backed by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Jeff Lynne and Dhani Harrison. Dhani is the son of the late George Harrison, who wrote that song for the Beatles; NJ.com user nyquil012 notices that the son is very much like the father: Don't know if you've ever heard Dhani Harrison sing, but it's creepy. Not only does he look like his dad, but he sounds like him too. Check out his latest group, Fist Full of Mercy, if you don't believe me. http://www.nj.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2011/03/your_comments_george_and_dhani.html

Voldar: George Harrison's Son Has His Own Supergroup Dhani Harrison, son of late Beatles legend George Harrison, is now attempting to make his mark in the music biz. The younger Harrison has co-founded a new band called Fistful of Mercy with acclaimed musicians Ben Harper and Joseph Arthur. The group performed an eight song set for winners of a KCRW radio contest this month at a Los Angeles studio, and their album, As I Call You Down, is expected soon. "The sound could be unruly or tranquil, unveiling a modern, quirkier take on the Crosby, Stills and Nash model, colliding folk, blues, eccentric pop and gorgeous three-part vocal harmonies," says The L.A. Times Music Blog. CNN says lyrical influences from John Lennon are even apparent in Harrison's words. "I can't believe I get to call them my musical brothers," said Harrison about his bandmates to CNN. Harrison had initially met Harper at a Santa Monica skatepark, and the two took it from there. As I Call You Down is anticipated to be released on October 5. http://www.rttnews.com/ArticleView.aspx?Id=1410293 Fistful of Mercy performing "Restore Me" on KCRW
Voldar: Спиннер тоже отметился статьёй о новой группе группе Дхани и к сожалению не избежал сравнений с великой группой отца и его товарищей по Wilburys.В конце статьи можно послушать ещё одну песню с нового альбома с многозначительным названием 'Father's Son' Fistful of Mercy, 'Father's Son' -- Song Premiere This past February, singer-songwriters Ben Harper and Joseph Arthur met up with the son-of-a-Beatle, Dhani Harrison, in an L.A. studio for a three-day recording marathon. Perhaps Harrison was taking a cue he learned from childhood when his dad, George Harrison, joined some of his contemporaries -- Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, Jeff Lynne -- to form the Traveling Wilburys. Or, perhaps, Harper got the idea from his peers when he saw Jim James, Conor Oberst, Mike Mogis and M. Ward all band together as Monsters of Folk. Regardless, as with those two projects, the chemistry is just right and the band -- this one called Fistful of Mercy -- ends up being somehow even greater than the sum of its parts. Fistful of Mercy's debut album, 'As I Call You Down,' will drop on Oct. 5 and -- with pre-orders already underway at the band's official web store -- the first 300 copies will come with an autographed poster. For those that just can't wait, a limited-edition vinyl version will hit stores a week earlier, on Sept. 28. And for those that can't wait that long, you can download the self-titled song 'Fistful of Mercy' at the band's website in exchange for signing up for their mailing list or tweeting about the album. But, for those who can't even wait till they finish reading this post to hear Fistful of Mercy, you can hear Spinner's exclusive premiere of the track 'Father's Son' after the jump. http://www.spinner.com/2010/09/24/fistful-of-mercy-fathers-son-song-premiere/ P.S.Промоушен на уровне..Группу только анонсировали,а у же и сайт ,и он-лайн магазинчик готов. http://fistfulofmercy.com/music

Voldar: HARRISON'S SON PLAYS DAD'S UKELELES ON NEW ALBUM GEORGE HARRISON's son DHANI has given his band thenewno2 a distinctive sound on their album by performing with some of the 40 ukeleles his late father left him in his will. Dhani Harrison has become a big fan of the small guitars and is part of a huge movement to make them the hippest instruments. He tells Rolling Stone magazine, "Eventually it gets to you and you can't help but love it. It's very disarming." And playing the ukelele brings back wonderful memories of his father: "Sometimes in the house there would be 10 people playing ukeleles at the same time." http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/252648/Harrison-s-son-plays-dad-s-ukeleles-on-new-albumHarrison-s-son-plays-dad-s-ukeleles-on-new-album#ixzz1PHPIUM55
Goldenday: Господи, Дхани всё больше и больше напоминает отца.
ТНЮ: Хех , мне Джордж сначала померещился пока заголовок не прочла.
Voldar: Дхани вместе со своей группой выпускает новый альбом. Dhani Harrison has got an awful lot going for him. He recently released an album with his supergroup, Fistful of Mercy, with bandmates Joseph Arthur and Ben Harper. He was instrumental in getting 2009's The Beatles: Rock Band developed and published, and performed the motion capture for his father, late Beatle George Harrison. After his father's death in 2001, he worked with Electric Light Orchestra mastermind and record producer Jeff Lynne to finish his father's final record, Brainwashed, and performed with the likes of Paul McCartney, Tom Petty and Eric Clapton at the memorial Concert for George. With such a stunning resume, it's easy to expect a lot of EP002, the newest release by Harrison's band thenewno2. The four-song EP shows a lot of influence from Radiohead's Kid A, with claustrophobic synth and effected drums throughout. It's an homage that lends the record an excellent texture. A touch of wobbly bass contrasts nicely with Oliver Hecks's expert oily synth in the EP's opener, "Wide Awake." The same professionalism is clear in "Live a Lie," which features Regina Spektor and starts with dry guitars before dropping suddenly into understated keyboards to great effect. In fact the only people who seem out of their element on EP002 are the featured talent, specifically in "Mr. President" (feat. Sir Eyes, Crisis, & RZA). The trio lay down their rhymes with impressive flow (it is the RZA after all), but their politically minded lyrics say nothing of interest. It seems a little bit late to be writing about how bad a job Bush did, seeing as how he left office in 2008. The track's closing diss, a pledge of allegiance featuring the phrase "United Snakes of America," characterizes just how dopey the song's political statements are. EP002 is a very solid step forward for thenewno2. It's by no means great, but it's still an improvement over their aimless 2008 release, You Are Here. Thenewno2 has a new album due out in 2012, and EP002 is reason to anticipate its release that much more. http://www.gsusignal.com/entertainment/album-reviews-1.2645370

Voldar: Beatle George Harrison's son Dhani announces release date for his band thenewno2's second album Dhani Harrison, son of late Beatle George Harrison, announced with his band, thenewno2 (pronounced “The New No. 2”), that their new album, thefearofmissingout, will be released on July 31. The album follows Harrison's 2010 release, As I Call You Down, with side project band Fistful of Mercy and thenewno2's 2008 debut album, You Are Here. “Our new album 'thefearofmissingout' Available July 31st, 2012,” the group wrote on Twitter revealing the new album's release date along with a link to a teaser video. The new album's trailer features candid behind-the-scenes shots of thenewno2 dispersed with clips of the band having a jam session. Harrison looks like a younger version of his father with his long brown hair and guitar in hand, but Dhani looks to be rocking out harder than George ever did in the Beatles. Three new songs from thefearofmissingout can be heard in the trailer's background, previewing the album's new sound. A press release for the album describes the band's new direction as a “combination of live and programmed instruments and adding in obscure samples to create an intricate collage of electronica sounds.” thefearofmissingout's theme takes exact inspiration from the album's title. While the pop charts are hung up on rapper Drake's popularization of Y.O.L.O., meaning you only live once, Harrison and company are more concerned with F.O.M.O., which is the fear of missing out. "Everyone suffers from it in a different way. We all have a fear of missing out on something," Harrison says in the press release. The band's musical direction borrows heavily from this fear theme, which results in the creation of its upcoming experimental album. Consequence of Sound reports that thenewno2 will perform at Lollapalooza music festival this August to support the new album. http://thecelebritycafe.com/feature/2012/05/beatle-george-harrisons-son-dhani-announces-release-date-his-band-thenewno2s-second- http://thenewno2.com/email/thefearofmissingout/
Voldar: Ну вот и обзорчик нового альбома Дхани. George Harrison's son finds electronic soul It’s a far cry from The Beatles, but when you’re the son of a Beatle, it’s probably a good idea to avoid comparisons. When listening to “thefearofmissingout” by thenewno2, any Beatles comparisons are unlikely to come up, even though the band is built around George Harrison’s son Dhani. He sings as well as plays lead and rhythm guitar, piano, keyboards, bass, ukulele, drums and synthesizers. It sounds like he does it all, and in some cases he does. Technically, there are five other band members and “thefearofmissingout” also features a few guest artists, including RZA from the Wu-Tang Clan, who drops a verse or two on “thewaitaround.” That’s only one example of how thenewno2 is decidedly non-Beatles. While he might have some vocal similarities to his father, Harrison’s music here is predominantly electronic based, often with programmed beats and robotic-sounding synths. At first, the electro-fuzz of the lead track “Station” might be off-putting, but with repeated listens, it begins to reveal its intricacies. The next couple of tracks are somewhat more accessible as Harrison channels a mellow Radiohead vibe on “Wide Awake” and grabs hold of a gorgeous melody on “Timezone.” “Staring Out To Sea” features an appearance by Ben Harper on vocals and lap steel guitar. Harper and Harrison are also members of the trio Fistful of Mercy with singer-songwriter Joseph Arthur. While “Staring Out To Sea” retains some electronic textures that tie it to the rest of the album, it’s also quite lush, especially with Harper’s luxuriant steel guitar and female harmonies by Thorunn Antonia, who also brings her gentle touch to a couple of other tracks. It’s actually the final track, “The Number,” that sounds the most Beatles-like, and even then, it’s really only in Harrison’s acoustic guitar that is faintly reminiscent of some of his father’s work. For the most part, “thefearofmissingout” finds a nice groove in its subtly ruminating electronic soul with a nice helping of the family flair for melody. Joining thenewno2 as an electronic band with heart is the Swedish group Niki & The Dove. At first listen, the music of Niki & The Dove might seem like just another Nordic dance-pop production. This is no Ace of Base, though. Their music is deeper than that but just as infectious. Coupled with the indie-rock vibe common among sub pop releases, the band’s debut, “Instinct,” references other acts while remaining disarmingly original, thanks to Gustaf Karlof’s shimmering keyboards and Malin Dahlstrom’s strong yet refined vocals that manage to deliver hook after hook. “Last Night” has elements of a Tegan and Sara-like rhythmic quirkiness while “The Gentle Roar” channels the arena-ready anthemic style of Florence and the Machine. Meanwhile, “DJ, Ease My Mind” is huge. That’s the only way to describe its sound, which is full of drama and emotion but still danceable. That’s the beautiful thing about Niki & The Dove: They manage to create dance music with emotion. So often the genre is cold, almost lifeless, but not so with “Instinct.” This is a dance album you can truly feel. http://www.thespectrum.com/article/20120823/ENTERTAINMENT/308230017/George-Harrison-s-son-finds-electronic-soul?odyssey=nav|head&nclick_check=1

Voldar: George Harrison's son records in Abbey Road Studios George Harrison's musician son, Dhani, says he had an emotional experience recording music for the movie "Beautiful Creatures" because he made the album in the legendary Abbey Road Studios. When he was young, Dhani often tagged along with his dad to the fabled London studio, which became synonymous with Harrison's group the Beatles and even lent its name to the band's 1969 album. But it was only when Dhani's band, thenewno2, was tapped to score the supernatural movie "Beautiful Creatures" that he was presented with his first opportunity to record there. He tells Rolling Stone magazine, "I spent my whole life in and out of Abbey Road. Recording at Abbey Road was emotional: my first time recording there, my first time hearing something we composed for an orchestra of that size and my first major Hollywood film soundtrack." The 34-year old-came up with soaring arrangements for the orchestra and recruited guests including Ben Harper and the Hollies' Tony Hicks, who is the father of Dhani's bandmate Paul. Dhani adds, "I was able to put a 54-piece orchestra in Studio 2, which is really weird. It's where my dad spent a lot of his formative years, as well as Paul's dad [Hicks], who recorded in Studio 1." http://music.msn.com/music/article.aspx?news=787140&affid=100055
