Goldenday: Джефф поучаствовал в альбоме Регины Спектор 'Far'. о Регине Спектор: Родилась в 1980 году Москве. В 1989 году, во время Перестройки, вместе со своей семьей переехала в Нью-Йорк и поселилась в Бронксе. Получила классическое музыкальное образование по классу фортепиано, закончила консерваторию в штате Нью-Йорк при Purchase College, по классу композиции. Закончила еврейскую религиозную школу. Автор текстов и музыки, Регина Спектор исполняет свои песни, аккомпанируя себе на фортепиано или гитаре. Трудно определить жанр, стиль и направление творчества Регины Спектор: его называют anti-folk, но в нем есть что-то и от панка, и от инди-рока, и от классической музыки (Регина получила классическое музыкальное образование сначала в России, а затем в Нью-Йорке, у профессора Сони Варгас). Ее сравнивают с Бьорк, с Тори Амос, с Ван Моррисоном. Но она все же совершенно оригинальна. Лирика Регины нарочито интеллигентна, с многочисленными культурными реминисценциями — Эдип, Самсон, Эзра Паунд, Пастернак, а музыка экономна и изящна, как классические японские стихи. Самое главное - то, как она умеет играть голосом.

Now and then they’d look up and check the score.” In a previous conversation with Ultimate Classic Rock, he elaborated further regarding the album and said that the experience of working with fellow “analog man” Jeff Lynne was “amazing.” He says “it was great to get together as two veterans and compare notes. “I know in the past, I’ve had screwy album titles, but I decided to call it ‘Analog Man.’ Because, you know, my generation of musicians, we grew up analog, and now it’s a digital world. We had to learn it, you know? Everything’s totally different. There’s no record companies — who knew that would happen? Хотя ведь очевидно, что ТВ-шоу показывалось в записи.... Так, что все сходится... Остается только радоваться за него (и за Уолша), что тусят "без выходных" в их то возрасте!!!!! То бишь получается, что 31-го в "Трубадуре" Ринго дал концерт в поддержку своего нового альбома, где среди гостей был Уолш, а затем на следующий день Уолш в том же "Трубадуре" устраивает свой концерт, на котором присутсвует тот же Ринго и Линн... Круто! А может они и вовсе "не выползали" оттуда с 31-го!?

Tape Op: That's big. You did quite a few records with Jeff Lynne and the group. Mack: Eight. Tape Op: And some of the biggest hits. How many had they done before working with you? Mack: They did four. The previous one was called Eldorado. They sort of just came in. "You're doing this?" There was nobody else around, so, "I guess I'll do that." We did Face The Music and that did really well for them. They kept coming back. I had a really good love/hate relationship with Jeff. Tape Op: He seems to know what he wants, in a certain way. It’s a whole new world that’s been created and it’s virtual and doesn’t really exist, its just pretend that a computer makes. And we spend a lot of time in there. ‘The last album I made was on recording tape and there were a bunch of knobs and now there’s a mouse and a hard drive.’ However, it’s not just recording music that has changed, but also the promotional side of things too and this is something else that Walsh recognises. ‘The problem is that the new technology ate the record business,’ he explained. ‘You have no choice but to use the new technology, and yeah it is amazing what can be done - the social networking is incredible. ‘I’m learning, we’re all learning. I have a lot to say because it’s been a while and all of that, I think, reflects in the music.’ Walsh’s wife encouraged him to get busy with his music again and pit him in touch with member of the Electric Light Orchestra, Jeff Lynne. ‘Jeff helped me, he’s a great musician and a great producer,’ Walsh said. ‘Gradually he took over the producers role and I owe him a lot too. Having him on board really helped me finish stuff and get it to where I could present it to the public.’ Walsh also had help writing the album with Tommy Lee James who was introduced to him by Barbara Orbison, who has a publishing company in Nashville. Goldenday: Послушал почти целиком. Ну что сказать... вроде, всё хорошо. По-моему, работа Джеффа ярко слышится на 1, 2, 3, 4 и 7-й песнях. 7-я песня - вообще нечто: ощущение такое, что слушаешь нереализованный трек Дэйва Эдмундса (вокалы Джо и Дэйва действительно местами схожи) с альбомов 83-84 годов. На Джеффа время вообще не действует: 20 лет назад были у него свои предпочтения в саунде, и сейчас они нисколько не изменились, и это здорово: человек воплощает в себе целую музыкальную эпоху, которую ничто не может сокрушить. Местами слышится саунд Highway Companion, начало "One Day At A Time" - чистая 'Xanadu' последней редакции; ещё возникает ощущение, что Джордж решил спуститься с небес и подыграть на некоторых песнях на своей ситаре. Вторая часть альбома несколько отличается от первой, в первую очередь присутствием электронных, отсутствием продюсирования Джеффа и не самыми выигрышными песнями. Невольно возникает мысль, что Уолш просто "добивал" пластинку треками до необходимого объёма. Возможно, отсюда и всего 10 песен в районе 30-40 минут. Не сказать, что длинный альбом, особенно по нынешним меркам. Всё перечисленное, скорее всего, не выведет альбом на пик музыкальных рейтингов, но, уверен, диск будет пользоваться стабильным спросом у "динозавров" типа меня и подрастающих пацанов и девчонок, интересующихся роком 60-х, которых всё меньше. Короче, по мне так 'Analog Man' - альбом Дежа-Вю, что, наверное, и задумано, судя по названию.
Voldar: Теперь можно уточнить какие песни спродюсировал Джефф.По данным Николя это: 01 - Analog Man 02 - Wrecking Ball 04 - Spanish Dancer 07 - One Day At A Time А также 11 - Fishbone с делюксового издания. http://www.elodiscovery.com/all-over-the-world.html Ну а сейчас не торопясь ,после 4 -го прослушивания можно поделиться своими впечатлениями.На мой взгляд это совместное творчество двух котов - интеллигентного английского и дикого американского,они вроде по ба..(кошкам) ходят вместе,но при этом свято охраняют и метят свою территорию.Это хорошо заметно по заглавной песне,а бросается в уши на "испанском танцоре" когда в упорядочные гармоники Джеффа совершенно неожиданно врывается Джо с громкими воплями,то есть запилами.Мне лично больше всего на альбоме понравилась 3-я песня Lucky That Way и хотя Джеффа там по спискам не значиться,но что то мне не вериться,что Джо сам в одиночку осилил бы такую аранжировку.Ну а в One Day At A Time Джо просто нет,это вообще не его песня,можно мысленно поменять вокал на Джеффа и вполне пойдет бонусом к Zoom.Так,что на мой взгляд это первый такой опыт Джеффа как продюсера,когда он решительно не захотел ограничиться улучшением творчества продюсируемого музыканта,а местами просто навязывал свои задумки,хотя может они и сами так договорились с самого начала,недаром Джо с самых первых слухах о этом альбоме начал оправдываться,мол это именно совместная работа. Про ту часть,где Джо записывал без Джеффа и говорить как то нечего,ну кроме последнего инструментала,где пожалуй на него могут ещё и наехать поклонники одной австралийской группы.

Q&A: Joe Walsh on His New LP, Eagles and James Gang Plans The last time that Joe Walsh released a solo album, George H.W. Bush was president and Kriss Kross had the Number One album in the country. Since then, the guitarist quit drinking and reformed the Eagles, touring the world many times over and even recording a new LP with them in 2006. Although the group is hashing plans for a 40th anniversary tour, they've been taking it slow this past year, giving Walsh time to go back into the studio and cut his new disc Analog Man (out June 5th) with producer Jeff Lynne. Walsh spoke to Rolling Stone about the new LP, getting sober and what's in store for the Eagles and the James Gang. Why did it take you 20 years to record a follow-up to your last solo album? I just never got any momentum going to finish any solo project. None of us really have. In 1994, the Eagles decided to get back to work, and we did Hell Freezes Over. We've been around the world a couple of times, and that's been a priority for us. The other thing is that in 1994, I had to get sober. I was hitting bottom and I ran out of options, so I had to stop everything and rebuild Joe from the bottom up. I had to relearn how to do everything without vodka. That took a while. Vodka was my best friend for a while there. For a while I just couldn't really go into the studio or around that kind of environment. Working on music when it started to get late…there were just too many triggers. I just had to learn to do it sober. But I didn't disappear. I got married three-and-a-half years ago [to Marjorie Bach, sister of Ringo Starr's wife, Barbara]. She's really the part of me that was missing. I really found a partner. She said to me, "You ought to get off your ass and put this record together." And she said, "By the way, here is Jeff Lynne's number." Did you know Jeff well prior to this record? Yeah. He was invaluable. I get these great ideas and I get them started, but I can never quite finish them up because I have a new idea that I have to go do. Jeff's a real closer. You can just dump it on him and he says, "Alright, here's what we're doing first." He took me in a direction I would never have gone. The album is called Analog Man. Did you record it on analog equipment? It was cut digitally. I'm not saying I'm some old fart who just came out of the woods, and I'm not saying analog is better. The whole analog thing is observations on what's going on, not really a judgement. I know about digital recording. We cut Long Road Out of Eden digitally, but I like vinyl. I like reading the album covers and I like side B. I like cassettes. We did the last album with recording tape and knobs. This album I did with a hard drive and a mouse. I had to make some adjustments. We all did. There is a whole new technology, but there is also a whole new world that's virtual and that doesn't really exist. We all spend more and more time in there and we get lost. Meanwhile, our bodies sit in chairs and wait for our minds to come back. I don't know if it's working for us, or if we're working for it. I know that it ate the record business, and I know it ate radio and it ate intellectual property. I hope it doesn't eat me. Do you find it more fulfilling to work on your own than in the Eagles? I'm real proud of this album. The Eagles are great. Being part of a band – especially that band – is really fulfilling onstage. Don [Henley] and Glenn [Frey] come up with great stuff to play guitar to. I had a really good time doing this album, though. It was great to get my brains out onto a CD. I really think I'm back, and it's not going to be another 25 years until the next one. I really learned how to do it sober. It's opened me up a lot. I'm more confident. My lyrics aren't so abstract, and I'm not hiding behind my humor. I'm letting people in and letting them know who the real Joe is. It's a little scary, but it's a good feeling. What's up with the James Gang? I went back to Cleveland about a month ago and we visited. I don't think we can do a comeback tour or pretend that we can sell out 10,000-seaters. I think we do best in little clubs, like the House of Blues and stuff like that. We agreed that if we do little venues, that we can really knock your socks off as a three-piece. So that's in my bucket list. Here's the deal…We're coming up on the 40-year anniversary of the Eagles. With that theme, the plan is to put out kind of a new show. That's for next year. In the meantime, we all have individual projects. Glenn has an album and Don's been in Nashville recording. But as soon as possible, the James Gang is going to go out and ride again. We're going to play small venues and try to do what we used to do. Are you going to use the backup singers again? I know some fans prefer you as a three-pice with nobody else onstage. Coming from a huge band in the Eagles and harmonies, and two keyboards and stuff, when I sat down with a drummer and bass player I said, "Whoa! Boy, do I feel naked!" On a good night, there's nothing better than a three-piece band. But on a bad night, there's nothing more horrible. So, I just had a little cushion there, so it wasn't such a shock. I think we do best as a three-piece. I agree with you in that we should go in that direction. Is that James Gang tour going to happen before or after the next Eagles tour? I don't know. We'll have to see how it goes next year, but if there's a window in any of this, we don't need a whole lot of preparation. We'll just pack our stuff and go do something. I think that's the way to do it. I don't think we need a big announcement and a lot of press. We were always more word of mouth, so we'll just go about it that way. It'll be more fun that way. I've heard that the Eagles tour is going to present the songs chronologically and utilize archival videos of the band. Is that the plan? That's the plan. We have archives all the way back, and we've been talking about doing some retrospectives, going back and looking at some stuff that wasn't a hit from Hotel California and from the early days – revisit Desperado and stuff. There's also videos and interviews from the old days. It's real loose and we want to do it real bad. We haven't started yet, and we're saving it all for next year and taking this year off just to get ready. But I think if we can get it together, it'll be really good. I know the fans would love to see Randy Meisner and Bernie Leadon back onstage, especially if you're doing long blocks of songs from the period when they were in in the band. Is that something you'd be cool with? Oh, yeah. It would be fun. Do you think that's possible? Uh, at least they'll be represented video-wise. I don't have any problem with that. Maybe on some of the big shows, if we put one together for a DVD. I think it would be an important part of it if they showed up. Hell, if the Beach Boys can put aside their differences for at tour... Yeah! I don't know how they agreed on anything, but it's nice to see them all together. So, you really think it's not going to be another 20-year wait for your next album? Yeah. Like I said, I'm sober now. I'm really confident and my wife has my back. Things are good and I want to talk about it. And this is the beginning of it, I hope. I feel creative and I'm not done yet. If I hadn't quit drinking when I did, I probably wouldn't even be here. Most of the guys that I ran with in the 1970s aren't here and I don't really get why I am, but here I am. A lot of people have reached out to me and said it was important watching me stop for them to decide to. Maybe I'm here for that. Back in the 1980's, some people saw you as this lovable, happy drunk. It wasn't clear just how sick you were. I was a functioning alcoholic for a while, but towards the end of it I just crashed. I crossed the line, shall we say. I spiraled downwards and it happened pretty quickly, and I just ran out of options. You know, I had a good run. I took it was far as it could go. I'm so, so glad that I quit. I've got a life that I never could have imagined back then. I didn't think I'd ever be funny again or anything. I thought all the fun was over. But I'm having a great time. I.T. issues notwithstanding, life's clearly been pretty good to Walsh: He's sober ("One Day at a Time"), loves his family ("Family") and still has good command of his guitar chops (check out "Funk 50," a reinvention of the James Gang's 1970 killer "Funk #49," complete with new, carefree lyrics). And Jeff Lynne's production on several tracks (especially the sweet, stock-taking "Lucky That Way") puts a Tom Petty-ready spin on laid-back California rock and has Walsh sounding less isolated from modern times than he thinks he is. I must say, i am very disappointed if after years of waiting for NEW songs, we have an album of old covers and an album of re done old ELO songs....nothing new at all...very very disappointed. How dare we make our opinions known to other fans who think Jeff Lynne is a GOD and beyond reproach about NEW songs otherwise their wrath will be visited upon you! Better be careful what I say.... I enjoyed the covers on "Armchair Theatre" and "Words of Love" was OK if slightly predictable. Of course. Mr Lynne is totally entitled to release an album of what he likes, and artists (especially of a certain age)enjoy covering songs with a special meaning to them - Rod Stewart, Peter Gabriel, Glenn Frey, etc, etc. I've no doubt Jeff will do the tracks justice, and the production will be top drawer. However, I'm not going to lie, I'm fucking dissapointed. I'm looking forward to hearing "Point of no return" more than any cover. No one ever said Jeff was a God but he can't please everyone. He can't do what everyone wants just because we like his music. That's just how it is. Didn't Jeff say he was working on five albums can't believe he's been working on cover versions for over three years I think there might be more to come. I'm a bit disappointed, honestly. We've been wating for so long. My heart skipped a beat when Jeff announced in 2009 he had been working on a new album. Three years later and all we've got is an album with covers? In the past he was able to write a 3 minute song in 4 minutes and now he takes three years to record some standards??? Okay, he also did the "Best Of" record. But if you listen to the songs they sound so much like the old ones - it makes no sense at all. He had the chance to bring a bit of fresh air into these songs - he missed the beat (quite literally cause he is really no great drummer...). Even the song selection is boring - what about the songs that came after 1979? Voldar: Небывалая активность развернулась на мейлинг листе.Надо сказать,что обсуждение новостей идет в том же ключе,что и нас,то есть от сумашедшей радости от того,что Джефф наконец,хоть что то выпускает,до непоняток,а где же обещанный новый материал.
Goldenday: Мы тут с Олегом подумали на днях, что некоторые совершенно зря разочаровываются от содержания "Длинной волны": во-первых, все знают, что первые 2 альбома битлов из 14 треков содержали по 6 каверов каждый и никому в голову не приходило возмущаться, что половина песен не их сочинения (там собственного материала-то было минут на 15-20 в каждом альбоме). Во-вторых, каверы, выбранные Джеффом, в подавляющем большинстве не известны любителям ELO и это будут новые произведения для их ушей. Ну а то, что не авторство Джеффа - не страшно: ведь будут его волшебные аранжировки и его голос... Остаётся только радоваться.
Voldar: В общем-то, я тоже думаю, что Джефф выбрал самое верное решение со всех точек зрения.

He'll be releasing two new albums on Oct. 9. The first is a new solo album, “Long Wave,” described in a press announcement as “a heartfelt and vivid tribute to some of the very songs that originally inspired him.” On the album, Lynne remakes some pop songs like “Bewitched, Bothered And Bewildered,” “Smile” and “Love Is A Many Splendored Many Thing” and a few '60s songs, like “Mercy, Mercy” (the album's first single) plus “Let It Rock” and “So Sad.” It's Lynne dabbling in early memories and rock oldies in his familiar style. “I call this new album 'Long Wave' because all of the songs I sing on it are the ones heard on long wave radio when I was a kid growing up in Birmingham, England,” Lynne said in a statement. “These songs take me back to that feeling of freedom in those days and summon up the feeling of first hearing those powerful waves of music coming in on my old crystal set. My dad also had the radio on all the time, so some of these songs have been stuck in my head for 50 years. You can only imagine how great it felt to finally get them out of my head after all these years.” The second album, called “Mr. Blue Sky – The Very Best of Electric Light Orchestra,” is a collection of ELO songs that Lynne has re-recorded at his home studio. Sergey`M: Point of no return написана я думаю в 2000-х. Свежачок. А вот "At last" это именно сольный Джефф, ну почти как из первого альбома! Здорово, короче. Душа радуется - аранжировка просто шикарная, теперь в качественном виде осталось дождаться. Уверен, что все песни в том же духе, и в каждой вещице - изюминка. Вот он долгожданный праздник для души!

Пишут, что возможно в ближайшее время, но без Beatles Forever "Well, they say the double album version of "Secret Messages" will be released sometime soon, but I don't think Beatles Forever will be included. It was only a bootleg he recorded one time but I think he never intended to release it officially. Можно заказ сделать в Швеции или Дании (там хороший магазин) например. Мы на роксетовском сайте заказываем кучей, особенно чисто шведское если. а потом по регионам рассылаем.... так дешевле. Хотя, думаю, ЕЛО будет достать проще. Но тож вот такой вариант могу предложить...

allamina: ндааа... 400 крон. пара тыров и щастье опять же есть из Дании мне всегда приходит за 10 дней (регулярно этим занимаюсь- сорю деньгами)))).. со Швецией сложнее. Я самостоятельно не заказывала там, обычно москвичи это делают.. Но сдаётся мне, что до Москвы идёт дольше ( у нас в Нске своя таможня) Мне даж американская футболка пришла их фае-клуба ТП (питерцам и москвичам-нет)... А.. с этой почтой.. вспомнила! Мне билеты датские на ТР шли два месяца Поэтому гарантировать тут сложно
